Agartala, 25th January 2024 :  The Tripura Students’ Federation (TSF) submitted a deputation to the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) on Thursday, demanding that the Kokborok language test be conducted in Roman script instead of Bengali script. The TSF General Secretary, Hamalu Jamatia, led the delegation and met the president of the board, Dr. Dhananjay Gon Choudhury.

Jamatia said that the TSF has been raising this demand for a long time, as the Roman script is more suitable for the Kokborok language, which is spoken by the indigenous people of Tripura. He said that the state government should respect the linguistic rights of the tribal students and implement the demand before the exam, which is scheduled to start in February.

He warned that the TSF will not remain silent if the government ignores their demand and will launch a bigger agitation. He also handed over a memorandum to the board president, urging him to take immediate action on the issue.
