Agartala, 18th April 2026: The Tripura TET Teachers’ Welfare Association (TTTWA) has urged the state government to intervene and resolve a long-pending pay scale issue affecting 13 graduate teachers under the Elementary Education Department.
In a press release issued today, the association Secretary Ajay Pal said it has submitted a formal representation to Chief Minister Manik Saha and the state’s Finance Minister, seeking early resolution of the matter. The representation, submitted by TTTWA Secretary Ajay Pal, highlights that the affected teachers have been in continuous service since their appointment in 2010 and became eligible for regular pay scale after completing five years of service.
However, despite meeting eligibility criteria, their cases remain pending due to administrative and legal complications, Pal stated.
He also cited a precedent involving Rajen Datta (GT), who was granted the benefit of regular pay scale in 2020 through an official memorandum, establishing a clear administrative basis for similar cases. The association has requested that the same approach be applied to the 13 teachers to ensure parity and fairness.
Providing background, the letter noted that the teachers were initially appointed as Graduate Teachers in 2010. Due to legal issues, their services were disrupted, although they later cleared TET examinations. Some were temporarily adjusted in undergraduate teacher posts, while the qualified candidates were reappointed as Graduate Teachers (TET-II) in 2021. Despite this, their entitlement to regular pay scale remains unresolved.
The association has placed several demands before the government, including early disposal of the issue at the Finance Department level, grant of regular pay scale by considering past continuous service, and extension of benefits from the date of rejoining in 2021. It has also called for a suitable policy decision on humanitarian and equitable grounds if necessary.
Expressing hope for a positive outcome, the TTTWA said it expects the government of Tripura to take a compassionate and judicious view of the matter to ensure justice and fairness for the affected teachers.
