Agartala, 15th February 2025: The annual general conference of the Tripura Working Journalist Association (TWJA), the state’s largest and oldest journalists’ body commenced with high enthusiasm at the Agartala Press Club today. The inaugural program featured a sit-and-draw competition for children and a captivating exhibition showcasing the work of the state’s photojournalists. The winners from both events will be felicitated tomorrow by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Chief Whip of the state Assembly and Teliamura MLA, Advocate Kalyani Roy graced the occasion as the chief guest alongside TWJA President and senior journalist Bijoy Paul, Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharjee and veteran journalist Sekhar Datta. Addressing the gathering, Roy praised the pivotal role of the media in Tripura, emphasizing its responsibility as the fourth pillar of democracy. She lauded the efforts of young participants, their guardians, and the association’s leadership in organizing the event.
Following the inauguration, dignitaries toured the children’s artwork display and the photo exhibition, appreciating the creative expressions on display.
TWJA President Bijoy Paul announced that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will join the conference tomorrow at 11 AM to address media professionals. The two-day conference will conclude in the afternoon after in-depth discussions on key issues affecting the association, culminating in the reconstitution of its executive committee.
