Agartala, 15th February 2025:   Residents of Bhagwan Nagar Gram Panchayat staged a protest by blocking the Dharmanagar-Kailashahar National Highway today, demanding a solution to their ongoing drinking water crisis. The protest, which lasted for about half an hour, was eventually called off after an engineer from the Drinking Water & Sanitation Department assured the villagers that their issues would be addressed.

The local residents stated that they have been struggling with a lack of drinking water for a long time. Despite submitting several applications to the local administration, no solution had been provided. Frustrated and desperate, they decided to block the road to draw attention to their plight.

During the protest, an engineer from the Drinking Water Department, who was passing by, assured the villagers that the drinking water problem would be resolved soon. Following this assurance, the villagers lifted the blockade.

It has been reported that there is no source of drinking water in ward number 4 of Dolu Chha in Bhagwan Nagar Gram Panchayat. Approximately 70 families in the area rely on water trucks for their drinking water needs. The lack of a proper water supply system has caused immense hardship for the residents, who continue to endure extreme misery in their daily lives.
