Agartala, 20th January 2025: Tripura Police arrested two individuals and seized drugs worth Rs 7 lakh from the Kathalchari area under Sabroom Sub-Division in South Tripura District.
According to Sabroom Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Nityananda Sarkar, the police received a tip-off at around 11:30 AM today that an E-auto rickshaw was transporting a large consignment of drugs. Acting on the information, police officers from the Sabroom Police Station, along with additional forces, rushed to the location and detained the vehicle.
Two individuals, identified as BK Shill and Ashim Majumder, were apprehended from the auto. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities recovered 11.430 grams of Brown Sugar and Rs 1,270 in cash. The estimated black market value of the seized drugs is approximately Rs 7 lakh. A case has been registered, and further action will be taken accordingly, stated the SDPO.
