Agartala, 8th March 2025:   In a successful joint operation by the Sonamura Police and Assam Police, two kidnapped youths from Assam, Faiz Ahmed and Alal Uddin, were rescued from the Rangamatia area. The police also arrested Yasin Mia, the manager of Mysa Hotel, for his involvement in the abduction. However, the prime accused, Abul Kalam, remains at large.

According to reports, on February 8, Abul Kalam, the husband of Nasima Begum, the head of Kalabari village, lured Faiz Ahmed and Alal Uddin from Sonatula and Bahadurpur villages of Patharkandi area in Assam to Tripura under the pretext of offering them jobs. Once in Tripura, the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of ₹1 crore from their families, which was later reduced to ₹10 lakh through negotiations. The families sold land to pay ₹5 lakh online to the accused. Despite this payment, the kidnappers insisted on an additional ₹5 lakh.

Desperate for help, the elder brother of the abducted youths approached the Sepahijala District Superintendent of Police. Acting on the SP’s orders, Bishramganj Police laid a trap to apprehend the accused. On Thursday night, as part of a police strategy, the elder brother informed the kidnappers that he had arrived at Charilam Bazaar with the ransom money. Following the tip-off, two accomplices of Nasima Begum—Manik Mia and Ripon Mia—arrived at Charilam Bazaar in a luxury car to collect the ransom. Police detained them on the spot, according to the elder brother.

During interrogation, they revealed the location where the youths were being held captive. Based on this information, the police successfully rescued Faiz Ahmed and Alal Uddin.
