Agartala, 8th March 2025: All India Congress Committee’s Tripura in-charge and MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka visited the state to address organizational matters. During his two-day visit, he held meetings yesterday and today at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan with state-level leaders, as well as block and district Congress leadership.
Following the meetings, Ulaka addressed a press conference on Saturday afternoon at the Pradesh Congress Bhavan. He announced that preparations for the 2028 Assembly elections have already begun. Discussions were held on strengthening the Pradesh Congress and strategies for the party’s future political direction. He emphasized that the issues raised during the meetings would be resolved collectively with the organizational leadership to ensure Congress is ready for the upcoming elections.
Ulaka criticized the rising unemployment and lawlessness in Tripura, stating that defeating the BJP at both the state and national levels is Congress’s primary goal to address these issues.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roy Barman took a jab at the BJP, questioning whether the party was celebrating seven years of governance or two years. He pointed out inconsistencies in banners and posters, which mentioned both durations. He also criticized the BJP for allegedly coercing government employees, Anganwadi workers, and DRW staff to attend the two-year celebration event at Swami Vivekananda Maidan.
Barman further accused the BJP government of failing in all sectors and resorting to religious and communal politics. He dismissed claims of development in Tripura, calling them baseless.
The press conference was attended by Pradesh Congress President Asish Kumar Saha, former Pradesh Congress Presidents Pijush Kanti Biswas and MLA Birajit Sinha, as well as MLA Gopal Chandra Roy.
