Agartala, 12th May 2026:  Road accidents continue to rise across different parts of the state, and another tragic accident occurred in the Santirbazar subdivision on Tuesday, leaving two bike riders seriously injured.

According to reports, the accident took place at the Santirbazar Tri-Junction area when a Tata Tigor car bearing registration number TR 01 BW 0498, travelling from Agartala towards Santirbazar, allegedly lost control and rammed into two motorcycles parked on the roadside.

The damaged motorcycles were identified as a Pulsar bike bearing registration number TR 08 H 6713 and a Splendor motorcycle bearing registration number TR 08 F 5362.

The injured persons have been identified as Dinesh Das (30), a resident of Kolabaria, and Bapi Das (24), a resident of Maichhara. Due to the impact of the collision, both riders were thrown onto the road and sustained serious injuries.

Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the injured before shifting them to Santirbazar District Hospital. However, as their condition deteriorated, the attending doctors referred them to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced treatment.

After receiving information about the incident, police from Santirbazar Police Station along with a forensic team reached the accident site and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the accident may have occurred due to the negligence of the car driver.

Sources said the vehicle is registered in the name of a doctor, Pradip Paul. However, the driver allegedly fled the scene soon after the accident. Some local residents have also alleged that the driver managed to escape with police assistance, though no official statement has yet been issued by the police regarding the matter.

Residents of the area are now closely watching the investigation and awaiting strict action against those responsible for the incident.
