Ulta Rath tragedy: Tinku hands over financial support to victim families

Agartala: July 03. Financial assistance was given today to the families of those who were electrocuted during the Ulta Ratha Yatra at Kumarghat on June 28. Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy handed over the approval letter of government assistance of Rs 4 lakh to the family members of the deceased this afternoon.

Speaking to reporters later, Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy said that the government is with the families of the deceases and injured persons.

“This assistance has been given as per the promise announced by the state government so that the families do not have to face any other problems in the education of their children. The financial assistance announced from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund will also be provided within a few days. Rs 3 lakh 90 thousand have been paid to the family members of the 7 people who died due to electrocution. As promised earlier, the Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Magistrate has given an interim assistance of Rs 10,000 to the families of the deceased”, he said.

It is to be noted that on the day of incident Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha visited the accident site and inquired about the treatment of the injured at Kumarghat and Fatikrai hospital and announced the financial aid.
