Agartala, 5th June 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today performed the bhoomi pujan ceremony and laid the foundation stone for the Taj Pushpabanta Palace Hotel at the Kunjan area of Pushpabanta Palace premises (Old Governor House) in Agartala.
The ceremony was attended by Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, members of the state cabinet, Members of Parliament, MLAs, senior government officials, and other distinguished guests.
The programme began with traditional Vedic chants, during which the Union Home Minister participated in the rituals marking the hotel’s foundation ceremony. Following this, he unveiled the foundation plaque in the presence of all dignitaries.
At the conclusion of the event, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha presented a replica of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple to Union Minister Shah as a gesture of respect and felicitation. Senior officials from Indian Hotels Company Limited, including CEO Puneet Chhatwal, also extended greetings to the Union Home Minister.
A short documentary highlighting the upcoming Taj Pushpabanta Palace Hotel project was also showcased during the event.
According to the project details, the upcoming luxury hotel will feature 89 standard rooms, 6 executive rooms, 5 executive suites, and 1 presidential villa. The facility will also include a banquet block, ballroom, meeting halls, restaurants, and a swimming pool, among other modern amenities.
The project is expected to play a key role in boosting tourism and hospitality development in Tripura, enhancing its appeal as a premium travel destination in Northeast India.
