Agartala, 25th December 2024: The BJP state office celebrated Shaheed Veer Balak Diwas today, paying tribute to the five- and eight-year-old sons of the tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, Sahibzada, who were martyred while protesting against religious conversion. The event was attended by BJP state vice-president MLA Bhagwan Das, General Secretary Tapas Majumdar, Mahila Morcha president Mimi Majumdar, and other dignitaries.
Floral tributes were offered to the two brave children who sacrificed their lives for the country. Bhagwan Das remarked, “Sahebzada, the five- and eight-year-old sons of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Gobind Singh, were martyred while protesting against religious conversion. To pay tribute to them, the central government has decided to observe December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas.”
It is worth noting that after the death of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Guru Gobind Singh succeeded him at the age of nine. Guru Gobind Singh was a leader, warrior, poet, and philosopher. His four sons, Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh, displayed immense bravery and were martyred by the Mughals. To honor their sacrifice, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on January 9 that December 26 would be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas.’
The celebration of Veer Bal Diwas is being observed across the country, including in Tripura. The state BJP office organized a program to mark the occasion, reflecting the nation’s respect and admiration for the sacrifices made by Guru Gobind Singh’s sons.
