Agartala, 14th February 2025: The residents of Barajala village, located near Bishramganj police station, have voiced their concerns over increasing bike thefts and alleged police inaction. The issue was raised publicly on Friday afternoon when villagers spoke to the media about their grievances.
According to the villagers, Bishramganj police station has failed to provide adequate assistance when bikes are stolen within its jurisdiction. This frustration escalated after a recent incident where a bike was stolen near the Bishramganj Mini Stadium.
On Thursday evening, a group of thieves allegedly stole a Bajaj Pulsar 150 bearing registration number TR 01A U 9795, belonging to Akash Debnath, a small cloth merchant from Barajala village. Akash had parked his bike near the stadium before heading to the local market to buy vegetables. Upon returning, he discovered his bike missing.
After a thorough search, Akash and his family approached Bishramganj police station to file a complaint. The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the station reportedly visited the crime scene after some time. Akash and his father, Krishnakant Debnath, recounted the entire incident to multiple officers at the station. However, the villagers claim that police response to such cases has been largely unsatisfactory.
Local residents fear that the lack of strict action against thefts is encouraging criminals and creating an atmosphere of insecurity. They demand that the authorities take immediate measures to curb the rising crime and ensure safety in the region.
