Violent Clash Erupts During Idol immerstion in Amarpur; Four Injured, Woman Allegedly Molested

Agartala, 26th October 2023:  In a shocking turn of events, a clash between two puja committees escalated into violence during idol cleaning in Amarpur, leaving four individuals injured, including a woman who reported an alleged molestation. The accused, identified as Pulak Saha, a CPIM worker, is now facing serious charges in connection with the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, tensions flared when a dispute arose between the rival committees over the procedure for cleaning the idol. The disagreement culminated in Pulak Saha allegedly assaulting Congress worker Rajesh Das. In response, Rajesh’s wife, along with Palash Saha, Eman Saha, and others, intervened, leading to further violence.

The altercation resulted in injuries to multiple individuals, with Rajesh Das sustaining severe injuries. He was initially rushed to Gomati District Hospital, where medical professionals indicated the necessity of surgery due to a head injury with blood clotting. Rajesh hails from the Shantipalli area of Amarpur.

Rajesh’s wife expressed her intention to file a formal complaint against the accused, Pulak, at the local police station. The situation is under active investigation, and further details are awaited.
