Agartala, 13th August 2024:   Tipra Motha workers have alleged that votes were not counted in two panchayats of Khowai block. Additionally, they claim that their workers were forcibly evicted from the counting centre. A case has been registered with Khowai police station regarding these allegations.

Ramchandraghat’s Tipra Motha Vice-President Raghu Kumar Debbarma stated, “The three-tier Panchayat elections of the state were completed on Monday. There are five panchayats under Khowai Block, of which counting was held on Monday. However, out of the five blocks, two blocks were not counted.”

He further alleged, “Motha workers were forcibly evicted by the ruling party workers from the polling station.”

In response to these events, Tipra Motha activists have initiated an indefinite blockade of the Khowai-Agartala road in the Belfang area demanding a recount of votes. The blockade has brought traffic to a standstill causing significant disruption.

The protesters are adamant that the votes in the two constituencies should be recounted to ensure fairness and transparency in the election process.
