Agartala, November 11: The West District administration has taken various measures to ensure security and law and order in the city during the upcoming Diwali and Kali Puja festivals. The Superintendent of Police (SP) of West district Kiran Kumar said this at a press conference on Saturday.

He said that this year, 295 Kali Pujas are being organized in the West District, out of which 260 are in the Sadar area and 35 are in the rural areas. He said that sufficient number of CRPF personnel will be deployed to prevent any untoward incident during the festivals. He also said that 170 TSR personnel, 34 women police and 250 plain clothes police will be engaged in security work.

He claimed that this year, the Kali Puja at AD Nagar Police Line will attract more people and hence, separate security arrangements have been made for it. He also said that special arrangements have been made for fireworks at AD Nagar police ground, where people can enjoy the display safely and legally.

He further said that special teams are working to stop the sale and cracking of illegal sound bets, which can cause noise pollution and health hazards. He appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration and the police and celebrate the festivals in a peaceful and eco-friendly manner. He wished everyone a happy and prosperous Diwali and Kali Puja.
