Widow’s House Torched Twice in Two Days in Kamalpur, Massive Loss Reported

Date:

Agartala, 5th June 2026: A shocking incident of repeated arson has created panic in the Mayachhari playground-adjacent area under Kamalpur Subdivision of Dhalai District, where the house of a widow was allegedly set on fire twice within two days.

According to local sources, miscreants targeted the same house in two separate incidents of arson. The attacks completely destroyed household furniture, daily necessities, and other valuable belongings. The family is now facing severe hardship after losing almost everything in the fire.

Residents said the first fire occurred on Monday. Although the blaze caused damage, several household items remained intact at that time. Locals reportedly noticed signs suggesting that the fire had been deliberately set. Police visited the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation following the incident.

However, on Tuesday night, unidentified persons allegedly returned and set the house ablaze again after pouring a large quantity of kerosene. The second fire was far more devastating, reducing the entire house to ashes and leaving nothing salvageable.

Upon receiving the news, local residents rushed to the scene and attempted to control the flames. Despite their efforts, the intensity of the fire made it impossible to save most of the belongings inside the house.

Neighbours informed that the widow, the owner of the house, is currently staying in Deoghar and was not present during the incident. Preliminary estimates suggest that the property damage may exceed ₹10 lakh.

The incident has sparked widespread concern among residents, who allege that the arson was a premeditated act. They have demanded a thorough investigation, identification of those responsible, and strict legal action against the culprits. Local people have also called for stronger security measures in the area to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Police have since visited the site and launched an investigation. According to police sources, all possible angles are being examined to determine the exact cause of the fire and identify those involved. Necessary steps are being taken as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The incident has left the local community alarmed and has raised serious concerns about public safety and security in the area.
