Agartala, 6th January 2026:  In line with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ call to honor senior citizens, the Women’s College NSS Unit organized a humanitarian program on Wednesday at Sandhya Neer, an old-age home in Abhoynagar.

Braving the winter chill, NSS volunteers distributed blankets and dry food items to underprivileged elderly residents, offering them much-needed relief. The gesture left many of the recipients visibly moved, underscoring the emotional impact of the initiative.

The Women’s College NSS Unit has long been engaged in community service across diverse settings. Volunteers have previously conducted awareness campaigns in Agartala city, distributed relief in Ambedkar Palli of Dukli village, provided clothing and food to homeless individuals, and extended donations to orphanages. Each effort reflects their commitment to service and social responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, NSS Program Officer Rama Bhattacharjee affirmed that such initiatives will continue in the future, reinforcing the unit’s dedication to fostering compassion and civic awareness among youth.
