Agartala, 19th March 2024: In a distressing incident, a construction worker sustained severe injuries after plummeting approximately 30 feet at a site close to the Maitri Setu in Sabroom. The individual, an 18-year-old from Bihar, was engaged in canopy construction atop the Integrated Check Post (ICP) when the accident took place.
Preliminary reports suggest the absence of safety gear provided by the SSC company as the primary cause of the mishap. The worker’s fall has raised concerns over the safety protocols followed by the company for its employees working at elevated heights.
Upon receiving immediate medical attention at the Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital, the gravity of the injuries necessitated a transfer to GB Hospital for advanced care. The incident has sparked an outcry for stringent enforcement of workplace safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
