Agartala, 21st January 2025 : A tragic accident took place in the Betacherra area under Kumarghat police station, resulting in the death of a worker. The incident took place when a freight Bolero vehicle overturned, claiming the life of Kalikumar Tripura, a resident of Jamircherra in the Longtharai Valley subdivision. Kalikumar, who was over 50 years old, was working for a contractor under the power department at the time of the accident.
Locals immediately alerted the fire department, and personnel rushed to the scene. They rescued Kalikumar in a critical condition and transported him to Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead after administering first aid. It was reported that the contractor, Deepak Saha was transporting goods to his personal work site when the accident occurred.
Another worker sustained injuries in the accident, while the driver and other workers narrowly escaped harm. The body of Kalikumar Tripura was later taken to the Fatikroy Primary Health Center Hospital Morgue for an autopsy. The incident has cast a pall of grief over the area, with residents mourning the loss of the worker.
