Agartala, October 17, 2022: Tripura State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) shall organize a One-Day Workshop on “Phasing Out of Single Use Plastic and Demonstration & Distribution of Digital Thickness Measuring Device” in the Conference Hall at Gorkhabasti on October 19 from 11.30 am onwards.
The objective of the workshop is to sensitize the officials and agencies authorized to enforce and implement the order issued by the Ministry of Environment, Government of India as well as by the Government of Tripura regarding ban on the manufacture, use, sale, import and handling of Single Use Plastic items from July 01, 2022.
Sub-divisional Magistrates and their officials will attend the workshop. On this occasion, TSPCB will distribute Digital Thickness Measuring Device to all Sub-divisions of the State. A demonstration of the working of the device shall be done for proper use and implementation of Plastic Waste Management Rules (Amendment), 2021.
Khushwant Singh Sethi, IFS, Principal Secretary, Government of Tripura, and Animesh Das, IAS, Director, Department Science, Technology & Environment will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and Special Guest, respectively. Debapriya Bardhan, IAS, District Magistrate, West Tripura will be present as the Guest of Honour. Prof B K Agarwala, Chairman, TSPCB shall preside the programme. Dr Bishu Karmakar, Member Secretary, and Manas Mukherjee, Executive Engineer, TSPCB shall deliver the welcome address and vote of thanks, respectively.
