Agartala, 7th March 2025: In a joint operation based on a tip-off, Durga Chaumuhani outpost police and West Agartala police apprehended a youth in possession of a large quantity of ganja from the Lankamura area on Thursday.
The arrested individual has been identified as Rana Sheikh, a resident of the Goalabasti area in the capital. According to the police, 22 kg of ganja was recovered from him, packed in 11 packets of 2 kg each. The market value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around Rs 3 Lakh.
Sadar Sub-division Police Officer Deba Prasad Roy confirmed the arrest and stated that a case has been registered against Rana Sheikh under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. On Friday, the police presented the accused before the court, seeking his remand for further investigation.
The authorities continue their crackdown on drug-related activities in the region, and further investigations are underway to determine the source and network involved in this case.
