Youth Arrested with Firearm at Agartala Railway Station

Agartala, 24th March 2026:   In a fresh incident raising security concerns, personnel of the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) arrested a youth with a firearm from the Agartala Railway Station area during a routine search operation on Tuesday morning.

According to police sources, the youth was behaving suspiciously, prompting officials to conduct a thorough search. During the search, the police recovered a pistol, two magazines, and two rounds of live ammunition from his possession.

The accused was immediately taken into custody and brought to the GRPS police station for interrogation. During initial questioning, he identified himself as Subrata Dutta, a resident of the Madhupur police station area.

Police said that the acussed confessed to bringing the firearm by train from Bihar to Agartala, with the intention of selling it later in Madhupur.

Officer-in-Charge of GRPS police station, Raju Bhowmik, informed senior officials soon after the arrest. A forensic team was also called to the scene, and they have begun a detailed investigation.

Authorities confirmed that the accused will be produced before the court on Wednesday. Police will seek remand to further interrogate him and determine whether others are involved in the case.

An investigation is currently underway to uncover possible links and ensure that no wider network is connected to the incident.
