Youth beaten to death at Belonia: Police arrested six youths including three from Assam

Agartala, 11th February 2025:   A youth named Babul Mia was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief. Following the incident, a murder case has been filed at the Belonia police station, and the police investigation has identified six youths involved in the crime. The accused will be presented in Belonia court today for a three-day police remand.

The incident took place when Babul Mia was allegedly caught red-handed while attempting to enter Nabodaya Vidyalaya by jumping over a wall to steal. Upon being caught, Babul Mia was tied up and brutally beaten by the accused. The situation escalated to the point where Babul Mia succumbed to his injuries. The police were immediately notified and rushed to the scene, where they rescued Babul Mia and transported him to Belonia Hospital. Unfortunately, the doctor on duty declared Babul Mia dead upon examination.

Babul Mia’s family members rushed to the police station upon receiving the heartbreaking news and broke down in tears.

The police have detained six individuals in connection with Babul Mia’s murder and have handed them over to the Belonia court. The accused are Mohammad Mustafa (20), Abul Hossain (40), Utpal Dey (24), Akash Das (23), Sanjay Tewari (45), and Shiv Shankar Sarkar (23). Three of the accused are from Assam, while the other three are from Belonia subdivision.
