Youth found dead in suspected suicide, stir at Dharmanagar

Agartala, 18th March 2026:   A tragic incident has shaken the Tongibari area of Ward No. 3 under Dharmanagar police station, where a young man was found dead in his home in what appears to be a case of suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Sukanta Deb, a local driver by profession. According to family members, Sukanta returned home yesterday afternoon but went out again shortly after. Later that night, he came back, entered his room, and locked the door from inside. When he failed to respond to repeated calls, his family grew suspicious.

Eventually, relatives broke open the door and discovered Sukanta hanging from the ceiling. Police were immediately informed and soon arrived at the scene. The body was recovered and sent to Dharmanagar District Hospital for post-mortem examination. Today, the body was handed over to the family after completion of the autopsy.

The exact reason behind Sukanta’s extreme step remains unclear. Authorities have stated that the cause of death will be determined through investigation.
