Agartala, 22nd August 2025: In a major success in its ongoing crackdown on narcotics, Tripura Police under Kadamtala police station in North Tripura district arrested a youth late Thursday night with a substantial quantity of heroin.
According to police sources, acting on a tip-off, a team led by Sub-Inspector Tapan Pal conducted a special operation in the Amtali area. Around 11 pm, the team apprehended a youth identified as Ruhel Ahmed, a resident of the Kalagang area, who was moving suspiciously near Amtali Bazar.
Upon searching him, police recovered five containers containing 234 grams of heroin, along with a motorbike allegedly used for trafficking. Ahmed was immediately taken into custody and booked under case no. 49/25 of the NDPS Act.During preliminary interrogation, Ahmed reportedly confessed to having links with several local and cross-border drug networks. However, officials refrained from sharing further details, citing the sensitivity of the ongoing investigation.
“We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics. Our drive against the illegal drug trade will continue, and more arrests from this network are expected soon,” said an officer of Kadamtala police station.
