Agartala, 5th April 2026: Kailashahar subdivision was rocked late last night after police intercepted a youth allegedly involved in narcotics smuggling. Acting on a tip-off, Irani Police Station officers, led by Second Officer Srikanta Chakraborty and assisted by TSR personnel, detained 26-year-old Muhin Miah with a large consignment of cough syrup.
Police reported seizing 150 bottles of WENREX cough syrup along with a scooter (registration TR-02-K-7616) during the midnight operation. Muhin Miah, son of Moyna Miah, hails from Phulbarikandi under Gournagar Arda Block. A case has been registered at Irani Police Station (Case No. 14/2026), and the accused is scheduled to be produced in court today.
The incident has sparked widespread concern, particularly over how such a large quantity of narcotics managed to pass through the Chinibagan naka point under Kailashahar Police Station. Locals are questioning whether security personnel at the checkpoint were negligent or if a larger smuggling network is at play.
Residents are demanding a high-level inquiry into the functioning of naka points, stressing that while the police crackdown is commendable, lapses in vigilance could undermine efforts to curb narcotics trafficking.
