Agartala, 23rd September 2025:  North Tripura police arrested a youth with 8,395 Yaba tablets worth approximately Rs 40 lakh during a raid in the Churaibari area this evening. The operation, led by SP Avinash Rai, was part of the state’s ongoing efforts to build a drug-free Tripura under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s initiative.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a suspicious motorcycle bearing registration number KA05JX7852 at Gazarbil Para, Baghan Gram Panchayat, and detained Komor Uddin (45), a resident of Kathaltoli Bazar, Assam. The contraband was found packed in 43 packets.

Shortly after the first raid, another search operation near Churaibari market led to the recovery of 12 kg of cannabis from an abandoned site in East Phulbari. However, no arrests were made in the second case.

In total, narcotics worth nearly Rs 45 lakh were seized in a single day. Police have registered a case and will seek remand of the accused in court.
