Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Friday condoled the demise of former Prime Minister and the architect of India’s economic liberation
Dr Manmohan Singh passed away while undergoing treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi
on Thursday night.
In a condolence message, Singh said he was aggrieved to learn about the demise of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. His demise is not only a loss for his family, but an irreparable loss for the entire country and marks the end of an era. The void created by his demise would be tough to fill, he said.
Dr. Manmohan Singh led our country as Prime Minister for two consecutive terms. He was an extraordinary statesman and a visionary leader with exceptional intelligence. He was the architect of India’s economic liberalization, opening up the country to foreign investment and policies that led to its transformation into a global financial powerhouse. His other remarkable legacies include India – the U.S. Nuclear Deal, the Right to Education Act, and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, among others said the condolence message issued by Manipur Chief Minister.
