Road accident kills 2, injures 17 in S. Afghanistan

Date:

Two commuters have been confirmed dead and 17 others injured as a passenger bus turned turtle in south Afghanistan’s Zabul province on Sunday, provincial police spokesman Zabihullah Jawhar said.

The passenger bus was heading towards Kabul. Due to reckless driving, it turned turtle in Shahr-e-Safa district, killing two travelers on the spot and injuring 17 others, some in critical condition, the official added.

Ramshackle roads, lack of security measures during travel on congested roads, old vehicles and reckless driving are often blamed for the road mishaps in Afghanistan as more than 1,000 persons have lost their lives in more than 2,200 road accidents over the past six months.
