Agartala, 7th July 2025: Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma on Monday led a large non-political rally in Agartala, demanding urgent action from the Tripura and Central governments to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants in accordance with directives issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The rally, which began in front of Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, drew participation from various communities and saw demonstrators waving national flags to underscore the protest’s non-partisan and nationalistic nature.
Addressing the gathering, Debbarma said, “The same MHA directives have already been implemented in states like Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu. There should be no delay in implementing them in Tripura as well. If the government fails to act, we will intensify our agitation.”
He emphasized the long-standing concerns regarding illegal immigration in Tripura, citing his 1997 address at the United Nations in Switzerland on the issue. “This is not a new concern for us. I have raised this issue globally and will continue to fight for the rights of our indigenous people,” he stated.
Debbarma also echoed the words of Tipra Motha founder and Royal Scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, saying, “Community comes first, then party.”
“This movement is not against any religion or community, but against illegal immigrants who have been living in Tripura by encroaching on our rights, land, and future. They must be identified and deported to safeguard the next generations and the sovereignty of our country,” he added.
