Agartala, 29th July 2025: Tension gripped the Tuimodhu area under Teliamura police station in Tripura’s Chakmaghat following the alleged abduction and rape of a 17-year-old girl by two youths on her way to a local shop.
According to Officer-in-Charge Jayanta Kumar Dey of Teliamura police station, the accused Hiran Mia of Melapathar village and his associate Antor Mia from Tuimodhu allegedly forced the minor into a vehicle before driving her to a nearby lychee orchard where the assault took place.
The incident came to light when local resident Saroj Debbarma and others, while searching for livestock in the orchard, reportedly heard the girl’s cries for help. On approaching the scene, the two accused fled immediately. The girl was rescued and taken to the police station along with her family.
Police registered a rape case based on the complaint and initiated an investigation. Officer Dey confirmed that both accused fled after sensing police presence and a vigorous search operation is currently underway to arrest them.
