Agartala, 19th August 2025: In a bid to curb the growing menace of gambling, drug trafficking, theft and snatching incidents in the capital city, the CPI(M) East Agartala Local Committee staged a protest and submitted a deputation to the East Agartala Police Station today demanding stronger enforcement of law and order.
Members of the committee marched to the police station, where a delegation led by Amal Chakraborty, Secretary of the CPI(M) Sadar Subdivision Committee handed over the deputation to the Officer-in-Charge. The protest aimed to highlight the deteriorating security situation and the alleged complicity of ruling party affiliates in unlawful activities.
Speaking to reporters, Chakraborty stated, “The rule of law has collapsed across the state. Citizens are living in fear, and the drug trade is flourishing unchecked. Anti-social elements, emboldened by political backing, are engaging in criminal activities with impunity.”
He further alleged that in the past month, multiple cases of house burglaries have been reported in the Banamalipur area. While some drug peddlers have been arrested, many of those arrested are reportedly linked to the youth wing of the ruling party.
The CPI(M) has called for immediate and impartial action from law enforcement agencies to restore public confidence and ensure accountability.
