Agartala, 20th August 2025:    Kailashahar Police have arrested a youth in connection with the theft of a mobile phone during the unloading of a Flipkart delivery vehicle. The accused identified as Chitrang Sarkar hails from the Bagbasa area in North Tripura district.

Officer-in-Charge Tapas Malakar of Kailashahar Police Station said that the incident took place today when Sarkar allegedly stole a mobile phone while goods were being unloaded from a Flipkart vehicle. Following a written complaint from Flipkart officials, police registered the case under FIR No. 40/2025, citing Section 305/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and launched an investigation.

Sarkar was taken into custody and produced before the court on Wednesday, where he was remanded to police custody for three days. Investigators have found evidence suggesting the involvement of two or more individuals in the theft, though their identities have not been disclosed due to the ongoing probe.

OC Malakar further revealed that organized groups have recently been targeting e-commerce shipments. “These individuals remove valuable items during unloading and repack the parcels with bricks or wood, causing significant losses to customers,” he said.

He urged citizens and business owners to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. “If you notice anything unusual, inform the police without delay,” Malakar added.
