Agartala, 20th August 2025: The CPI(M) Sadar Committee in Kailashahar submitted a deputation to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Municipal Council today pressing a 10-point charter of demands that includes the rollback of increased water taxes and the provision of safe drinking water across all wards.
Led by party leaders and local councillors, the delegation marched from the CPI(M) office to the municipal premises, where they formally handed over the memorandum. The demands of civic and labor concerns include- assurance of 100 days of work annually under the TUEP scheme, an additional 25 days of employment for workers during the Sharadiya Festival, adequate supply of potable water in every ward, withdrawal of the recently hiked water tax, construction of new drainage systems, regular garbage clearance, repair of non-functional street lights, disbursement of pending installments under housing schemes, renovation of Anganwadi Kendras, and completion of the electric crematorium and improvement of roads for emergency services.
Among those present were Councillor Mohit Lal Dhar and CPI(M) leaders Bishu Das, Subrata Chowdhury, Ban Bihari Singh, Anowara Begum, and Pradip Sinha. The Deputy Chief Executive expressed agreement with the concerns raised and assured the delegation that the matter would be escalated to higher authorities for further consideration.
This move marks a renewed push by CPI(M) to address pressing urban infrastructure and labor issues in Kailashahar, signaling growing civic engagement ahead of the festive season.
