Agartala, 26th August 2025:   The Tripura Commission for Protection of Child Rights has launched an investigation into the death of a two-and-a-half-year-old child in Paschim Laxmibil under Bishalgarh police station following allegations of foul play by the victim’s family.

The child is the son of local resident Biswajit Ghosh, who was found dead two days back under circumstances the family claims suggest murder. They allege the toddler was killed and his body dumped far from home, an area he could not have reached on his own.

Upon learning of the incident, Commission members Chameli Saha and Gautam Kumar Shil visited the grieving family today. The emotional parents broke down during the meeting, reiterating their belief that the child was murdered. They pointed to the location where the body was discovered as evidence, stating it was too remote for the child to have wandered there unaided.

The Commission’s representatives also held a detailed discussion with Bishalgarh Officer-in-Charge Bijoy Das. Das informed them that police are awaiting the post-mortem report before taking further action. He assured the Commission that appropriate steps would be taken once the findings are available.

The Commission has formally urged the Bishalgarh police to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter.
