Agartala, 27th August 2025 :   Tensions flared at IGM Hospital here today following the death of a schoolgirl allegedly due to medical negligence. The deceased identified as Papiya Sarkar was a resident of Joynagar Dashami Ghat area and a student at Ramkrishna school.

Family sources informed that Papiya fell ill shortly after arriving at school in the morning and collapsed on the premises. She was rushed to IGM Hospital, where doctors reportedly administered an injection and advised a blood test. However, her condition deteriorated rapidly while awaiting further treatment.

Family members claim that when they urged doctors to intervene, they were told that no treatment could proceed until the blood test results were available. They allege that this delay in medical response contributed to Papiya’s death and have raised concerns about the injection administered earlier.

The incident sparked outrage within the hospital’s medicine ward, prompting the deployment of a large police contingent from West Agartala Police Station to control the situation. Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but the family is demanding a thorough investigation and accountability from hospital staff.
