Farmers blockade road with power tiller demanding water for irrigation

Agartala: July 21. Farmers of Champlai area under Madhya Krishnapur Gram Panchayat in Teliamura has blockade the road with power tiller machines to demanding water for irrigation.

The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has no steps as hundreds of farmers have been suffering from severe water shortage for two years. Because the water pump machine is broken. Therefore, the farmers of Champlai area under Madhya Krishnapur Gram Panchayat under Teliamura R.D block have been forced to block the road with power tiller machines to demand water.

Farmers blocked the road from Thursday morning. Farmers complain that the due to severe crisis of water they are not able to do their agriculture work. The water pump machine has been broken for two years. So they have blockade Teliamura-Ghilatli road with power tiller. Although the road-blocking started from eight in the morning, the official of the concerned department reached the spot by twelve in the afternoon.

When the matter is reported to the concerned department, they ask to inform the panchayat. For the last two years, such problems are being facing by farmers. On receiving the information, the administrative officials rushed to the spot. The farmers demanded the officials to immediately repair the water pump machine and provide water.
