Agartala, 19th October 2025: In a commendable display of social responsibility, a free health camp and clothing distribution drive was held today in the remote Murti Chhara tea garden area under Chandipur assembly constituency. The initiative was organized by Swasti Health Care and inaugurated by Chandipur MLA and state Minister Tinku Roy, who attended as the chief guest.
Also present were noted social worker Pintu Ghosh, the head of Murti Chhara Gram Panchayat, and other local dignitaries.
The camp provided free medical check-ups, primary treatment, and essential medicines to hundreds of residents. Additionally, clothes were distributed among economically disadvantaged families. Over 300 men, women, and children attended the event.
Medical services were led by Dr. Sumit Das, founder of Swasti Health Care and a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, along with Dr. Nilutpal Chakraborty and Dr. Payel Deb. In his welcome address, Dr. Das stated, “Our aim is to bring healthcare to underserved communities. We will continue this initiative in the future.” He also announced plans for a free gynecology and surgical camp in early February next year, in memory of the late Krishanu Sinha, former head of Swasti Health Care.
Speaking at the event, Minister Tinku Roy said, “Tea garden workers have long faced neglect. Organizing a health camp in such areas is truly praiseworthy.” He highlighted that under the BJP-led government, daily wages for tea workers have increased from Rs 104 to Rs 204, and 5,000 out of 8,000 tea worker families in the state have already received PVC ration cards.
Praising Swasti Health Care’s efforts, Roy added, “Whenever an organization steps forward for health or social welfare, my first thought is for the tea garden communities. Serving them is our priority.”
Today’s camp not only delivered medical aid but also conveyed a message of compassion and human dignity. Local residents expressed gratitude and called for more such initiatives in the future.
