Villagers in East Chawmanu Allege Neglect Amid Government’s Development Claims

Agartala, 2nd November 2025 :  While the ruling party in Tripura often highlights the success of its so-called “Triple Engine Government” and the wave of development sweeping across the state, the ground reality appears starkly different in East Chawmanu Satyaban Karbari Para, a remote tribal hamlet under Longtarai Valley subdivision in Dhalai district.

Residents of the area allege that even after decades of independence, their village remains deprived of basic infrastructure. Roads are still unpaved, access to clean drinking water is scarce, electricity supply is irregular, and healthcare facilities are virtually non-existent. As a result, local tribal families continue to live under severe hardship.

“We have drawn the attention of the administration multiple times, but no action has been taken so far,” said one villager, expressing frustration over the authorities’ indifference.

Locals further said that the government’s repeated claims of inclusive development have become “a matter of irony” for them, as they struggle daily without the basic amenities that urban areas take for granted.

Despite the repeated promises from political leaders and public representatives, no tangible improvement has yet reached East Chawmanu. The villagers, however, still hope that one day their plight will reach the ears of the government and that genuine development will finally touch their forgotten corner of Tripura.
