Brother killed over land dispute in Tripura’s Nidoya Thindhepa area

Agartala, 3rd November 2025:   A land dispute between two brothers in the Nidoya Thindhepa area under Jatrapur Police Station escalated into a tragic murder on Sunday. The younger brother Rasu Shil (35) was allegedly killed by his elder sibling Gautam Shil following a heated altercation.

Local sources informed that the quarrel over property quickly turned violent. In a fit of rage, Gautam reportedly attacked Rasu with a sharp weapon, inflicting critical injuries. Rasu was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Following the incident, Gautam fled the scene and remains absconding. Police have recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The shocking nature of the crime has cast a pall of grief and fear over the community.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused. The incident has sparked widespread concern over rising familial violence linked to property disputes.
