Agartala, 11th November 2025:  Sabroom police have rescued a missing minor girl who was trafficked across the border to Nepal after three weeks of intensive investigation. The accused identified as Krishna Thakur (35) of Kokrajhar, Assam has been arrested.

The girl had gone missing on October 19, sparking widespread concern. Police tracked the suspect’s movements using mobile data, which led them to Nepal’s Dong district. In coordination with Nepalese authorities, the girl was traced to Tulshipur village, where she was found in the custody of the abductor’s stepmother.

Following due formalities, the child was safely brought back to Sabroom on November 9 and reunited with her family after medical check-up and counselling.

According to SDPO Nityananda Sarkar, the rescue operation was led by South District SP Moria Krishna, Additional SP (IPS) Vishal Kumar, OC Apu Das, and the investigation team. A case under the POCSO Act has been registered, and further investigation is underway to determine if the accused is linked to a larger trafficking network.
