Agartala, 17th November 2025: Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder today announced that 24 new Iron Removal Plants (IRPs) set up by the Tripura Jal Board will be inaugurated on Monday at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan. The inauguration will be carried out by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Mayor Majumder said he chaired a review meeting with all corporators ahead of the inauguration. He expressed confidence that the new IRPs will significantly ease the water crisis affecting parts of Agartala city.
The distribution of the newly installed IRPs across AMC zones is as follows 3 in Central Zone, 4 in East Zone, 8 in South Zone and 12 in North Zone.
He also mentioned that, in addition to these, several modified IRP units are already functioning and will further strengthen efforts to supply clean and safe drinking water to residents.
“The opening of these plants will help resolve the water issues faced by many households across the city,” Majumder stated.
