Agartala, 19th November 2025: The Tripura Golf Association (TGA) has achieved a landmark moment in the state’s sporting history, announcing today that it has officially received its affiliation letter from the Indian Golf Union (IGU). This significant development marks a new chapter for golfers and golf enthusiasts across Tripura.
With this prestigious affiliation, the TGA is now the officially recognised authority for the promotion, development, and governance of golf in Tripura under the national framework of the IGU. The recognition is expected to open new avenues for local golfers, including access to national ranking tournaments, certified coaching programs, structured development pathways, and enhanced competitive opportunities at higher levels.
“This is a moment of great joy for all golfers and golf lovers of Tripura. The IGU affiliation strengthens our vision to grow a vibrant golfing culture and groom players who can proudly represent Tripura at national and international arenas,” said Devid Debbarma, President of the Tripura Golf Association.
The TGA expressed deep gratitude to the Olympic Association of Tripura and the Tripura Sports Council for their continuous support, guidance, and encouragement throughout the process. Their cooperation, the association noted, has been pivotal in achieving this milestone.
Looking ahead, the Tripura Golf Association aims to work closely with the Indian Golf Union and all state sports bodies to uplift the sport of golf and create meaningful opportunities for the people of Tripura.
