Ambassa: Dec 05. A workshop titled “Your Capital, Your Right” was organized at the Dhalai District Magistrate’s conference hall to facilitate the efficient and speedy settlement of unclaimed financial assets. The initiative aims to return funds lying dormant in bank accounts where no transactions have taken place for over a decade back to the rightful depositors along with accrued interest.
The event was attended by key dignitaries including District Council Chairperson Sushmita Das, MLA Chittaranjan Debbarma, BAC Chairman Parimal Debbarma, Lead District Manager (LDM) Mohammad Sagir Ahmed, officials from various banks, and a large number of customers.
Speaking at the workshop, LDM Mohammad Sagir Ahmed announced that cheques amounting to Rs 4,07,282 were handed over to 15 account holders during the programme. He further revealed that Dhalai district currently has 8,625 such dormant accounts, collectively holding an unclaimed sum of Rs 4.10 crore.
Ahmed emphasized that the campaign’s primary goal is to ensure these funds reach the families of the depositors. He added that efforts are underway to trace account holders even in remote areas of the district so that their rightful money can be returned.
