Agartala, 8th December 2025:  A large number of tribal students in Tripura are yet to receive their post-matric scholarships for the 2024–25 financial year, prompting the Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF) to submit a deputation to the Tribal Welfare Department today.

TSF leaders warned that if stipends are not disbursed immediately, the organization will be compelled to launch a sit-in protest in the coming days.

Speaking to the media personnel here after the deputation, TSF vice-president John Debbarma said the delay in scholarship payments has left thousands of students in distress.

“Economically weaker tribal families depend entirely on this scholarship to continue their children’s education. With the prolonged delay, the future of many tribal students has become uncertain,” he stated.

A five-member TSF delegation met officials of the Tribal Welfare Department to press for the immediate release of pending stipends. Debbarma further cautioned that if the issue is not resolved quickly, the organization will be forced to intensify its movement.
