Agartala, 10th December 2025: Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today said that the Farmers Registry is a unique and integrated database of every farmer in India, as it is not just a record; it is the foundation of a modern, efficient, and transparent agricultural system.
The Minister said this after he chaired an important meeting with all the officials, including the Secretary of Agriculture, Agriculture Director, Horticulture Director etc. and with other BAC chairman, Sector officers on video conferencing at Secretariat.
The Minister informed that one of the important aspects of this registry is that it is mandatory for availing any government benefits, especially the PM-KISAN scheme.
“By registering, farmers are assured that the benefits earmarked for them will reach their bank accounts directly, without any delay or risk of intermediaries. This ensures that the aid reaches the right farmer at the right time. Through the Farmers Registry, we can create a verified identity for each farmer, which is linked to their land information and Aadhaar. This not only prevents duplication, but also helps in targeting the right subsidy, crop insurance, loans, and agricultural inputs,” said the Minister.
The Agriculture Minister said that, more importantly, the registry forms the foundation of the digital agriculture ecosystem.
“It facilitates integration with soil health cards, digital crop surveys, market connectivity, and advisory services. This means that farmers will now have easy access to all the information and services they need, and will be able to make better decisions. By using digital tools, we are reducing the administrative burden on farmers and government officials, while ensuring transparency and accountability in every scheme. It also opens the door to new innovations in the agri-tech sector, which helps in increasing the production and income of our farmers,” he said.
He said that, in short, the Farmers Registry is not just about digitalization; it is about empowering our farmers, ensuring that they get all the benefits properly, and preparing for the future of modern agriculture.
“Through the Farmers Registry, we can create a unique Farmer ID for each farmer, get accurate information about land and crops, and help the government set the right plans and targets,” said the Minister.
The Minister said that farmers will get all the information and benefits in one system, which saves both time and cost.“Digital agriculture is not only simplifying administrative work; it is also empowering farmers, helping them increase their income using innovative technologies, and making our agriculture sector more modern and strong. I request all the farmers to register quickly, especially to avail PM-KISAN benefits, so that you do not miss out on this opportunity. Let us together embrace digital agriculture and take our agriculture sector to new heights,” he said.
