Agartala, 13th December 2025:

The All Tripura Community Health Officers Organization (ATCHOO), which has long been working in the public interest across the state, organized a major health and welfare program titled “A Comprehensive Community Health and Social Welfare Drive” at Abhay Ashram, Gokulnagar, Bishalgarh, on December 13, 2025.

Community Health Officers (CHOs) in Tripura have been instrumental in combating dengue and malaria through awareness campaigns, blood smearing, testing, and larval destruction. Nearly 900 CHOs are currently deployed across villages, towns, and hilly regions, ensuring uninterrupted healthcare services at the grassroots level.

Their responsibilities extend to maternal and child care, adolescent health, reproductive health services, management of communicable and non-communicable diseases, primary eye and ENT care, dental check-ups, geriatric support, emergency medical assistance, and mental health services.

The program began at 11 a.m. with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, along with other dignitaries. Children of Abhay Ashram performed the inaugural song, followed by a welcome address from ATCHOO General Secretary Pritam Dey, who highlighted the crucial role of CHOs in public health.

The event featured cultural performances, including a vibrant group dance by children, and a symbolic gesture of support to Abhay Ashram. ATCHOO donated essential items such as wheelchairs, walkers, nebulizers, winter clothing, sports equipment, first-aid kits, and other supplies for both children and the elderly.

A free health camp was also organized, offering medical consultations and medicines at no cost. General physicians, dental surgeons, ophthalmologists, and Ayurvedic practitioners provided check-ups, with special attention given to elderly patients through physical examinations and follow-up advice.

The program was attended by Supriya Das Dutta, Sabhadhipati of Sepahijala Zilla Parishad; Antra Sarkar Deb, MLA; Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, District Magistrate; Biplab Chakraborty, District President; Smriti Atashi Das, Panchayat Samiti Chairperson; Kajal Sarkar, Social Worker; and Dr. Debashish Das, Chief Medical Officer.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy praised ATCHOO’s commitment to community service, while the event concluded with a vote of thanks by Abhay Mission Secretary Smriti Sushmita Dey.

Throughout the program, the organizational skills, coordination, and dedication of CHOs drew admiration from all present. Their continued service in areas of urgent healthcare need is strengthening Tripura’s public health system and reinforcing community trust in grassroots medical care.
