Agartala, 3rd January 2026: A rare and complicated childbirth was successfully handled at Bishramganj Primary Health Centre, creating an atmosphere of joy and relief among doctors, staff, and the patient’s family.
Yesterday around 11:45 am, Indrakanya Debbarma (35), wife of Binoy Debbarma of Sutarmaura village, was rushed to the hospital with severe labour pain. After initial examination, doctors advised the family to shift her to GBP Hospital for advanced care. However, due to extreme financial hardship, the family could not afford the transfer, leaving the patient in tears.
Late at night, around midnight, Binoy Debbarma admitted his wife to Bishramganj Primary Health Centre. Soon after, she delivered a healthy baby boy weighing approximately 3 kilograms.
The situation took an unexpected turn when doctors found a second child in the womb, a fact that had gone unnoticed earlier as no sonography had been conducted. The finding caused brief concern, but attending physician Dr. Debbir Das managed the situation with skill and composure.
After a challenging procedure, Dr. Das successfully delivered another baby boy weighing about 2.5 kilograms. Both mother and newborns are safe, bringing immense relief to the family and medical staff.
Dr. Das later told media personnel that the mother and her two sons are in stable condition. He credited the collective effort of doctors and health workers at the centre for overcoming the complex circumstances.
Family members expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Das, senior nurse Purabi Debnath, and the entire medical team for their dedication and courage.
Notably, Bishramganj Primary Health Centre has previously handled several such rare and complicated deliveries, further strengthening its reputation for resilience and commitment to patient care.
