TU Prof Dr Alak Bhattacharjee elected to IPSA executive council

Agartala, 3rd January 2026:   Professor Dr. Alak Bhattacharya, Head of the Department of Political Science at Tripura University, has been elected to the Executive Council of the Indian Political Science Association (IPSA), one of the country’s oldest and most respected academic bodies in the discipline.

His election is being hailed as a major academic milestone, positioning him to contribute to national and international discourse on political science research, higher education policy, and scholarly collaboration. Faculty members, researchers, and students of Tripura University have expressed pride in the achievement, while university authorities extended their formal congratulations.

Professor Bhattacharya, widely recognized for his scholarship, has made significant contributions in the fields of political psychology, good governance, and political philosophy.

Meanwhile, IPSA recently organized the All India Political Science Conference and International Seminar on December 27–28, 2025, at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar. The two-day event drew participation from leading political scientists, scholars, and researchers across the country.

Tripura University’s Department of Political Science was prominently represented, with four lifetime members of IPSA attending. Professor Bhattacharya and Assistant Professor Dr. Biplab Debnath delivered keynote addresses, while Guest Faculty Dr. Sumon Ali and Research Scholar Mr. Dhiman Roy contributed to panel discussions, highlighting the department’s growing national presence in the field.
