Agartala, 6th January 2026:   As the 2026 municipal elections draw closer, public dissatisfaction in Agartala is becoming increasingly visible. While the ruling party celebrates the fourth anniversary of its control over the Agartala Municipal Corporation, citizens are voicing mounting frustration over the quality of civic services.

In Ward No. 34, two senior residents have openly expressed discontent with the role of local corporator Jahnabi Das Choudhury. They allege that despite a long-standing pile of garbage accumulating right in front of the corporator’s residence, no steps have been taken to remove it.

Another elderly resident voiced anger over the delay in receiving her husband’s entitled government pension, despite his affiliation with the ruling party. She blamed administrative negligence and the inactivity of elected representatives for depriving ordinary citizens of their rights.
